Wurstfest Sausage Roll - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. yeast (dry or cake)
    1 Tbsp. warm water
    1 tsp. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. hot water
    3 eggs, beaten
    approximately 4 c. flour
    sausage, cut into strips (I use Lil Smokies or kielbasa)
Preparation
    Combine first 3 ingredients.
    Set aside.
    Combine shortening, sugar, salt, hot tap water and eggs.
    Beat well.
    Add yeast mixture.
    Add 2 cups flour and beat well.
    Stir in another 2 to 2 1/2 cups flour to make soft dough.
    Refrigerate in large covered bowl overnight.
    Divide dough into 3 portions.
    Roll portion into circle 1/4-inch thick.
    Cut in 2-inch circles.
    Simmer sausage in covered pan approximately 5 minutes.
    Place sausage piece in center of each circle.
    Moisten edges of dough with a little water.
    Lap one side of dough over sausage and press edge of dough together to seal.
    Repeat with remaining dough.
    Place rolls on greased cookie sheet.
    Let rise about 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until doubled.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 10 to 12 minutes or until brown. Makes 36 rolls.
