Strawberry Preserves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 qt. ripe strawberries
    8 c. sugar
Preparation
    Wash and cap berries.
    Cover with boiling water and let stand for 3 minutes.
    Drain well.
    Pour 4 cups of sugar over berries and bring to a boil.
    Boil for 5 minutes.
    Remove from heat and cool. When cool, add remaining sugar and bring to a boil.
    Boil 5 more minutes and remove from heat.
    Let stand overnight.
    Place in sterilized jars next morning.
    Sealing is not necessary.
    Do not double recipe.
