Ingredients

1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. shortening or margarine
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. milk
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients; add milk, vanilla and shortening.
Pour into 8 x 8-inch pan.
Mix 3/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa; sprinkle over batter on top.
Pour 1 3/4 cup hot water over and bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 to 45 minutes.
Pudding will form on bottom.
