Nutty Cheese Straws - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
    1/2 c. butter (room temperature)
    1 c. plain flour
    1/4 c. toasted hazelnuts, finely chopped
    1 medium egg, beaten
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 400\u00b0. Mix together cheese and butter. Add flour, nuts and 2 tablespoons cold water. Mix until mixture comes together to make a dough. Break off walnut size pieces and roll into long thin sausage shapes, about 5-inches long. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Brush with egg and bake for a further 6 to 8 minutes, until golden brown. Serve with soup. Makes 24.
