Cinnamon Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 gal. large cucumbers
    2 c. lime
    4 c. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. alum
    3 (1/2 oz.) bottles red food coloring
    4 c. vinegar
    16 c. sugar
    16 cinnamon sticks
    4 large pkg. red hots candies
Preparation
    Peel and remove seeds from cucumbers.
    Cut into strips.
    Mix 2 cups lime and 8 quarts of water.
    Put cucumbers in mixture to soak 24 hours.
    Drain and wash in cold water.
