Kahlua - cooking recipe

Ingredients

4 c. sugar
1/2 c. instant coffee (Yuban if possible)
2 1/2 c. water
1 qt. vodka
1/2 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. vanilla extract or 2 vanilla beans

Preparation

Mix sugar and coffee in a 3-quart saucepan. Add water and salt.
Heat until sugar is dissolved.
Bring to a boil and remove from heat immediately.
Wait 5 full minutes.
Add vodka and vanilla.
Pour into favorite bottles and chill.
