Green Tomato Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 qt. sliced tomatoes
    3 medium onions, sliced thinly
    1/4 c. salt
    ice water
    3/4 qt. vinegar
    3 c. sugar
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Combine vinegar, sugar, celery and mustard seed in large saucepan; bring to a boil.
    Drain tomatoes and onions; rinse in cold water.
    Add to vinegar mixture; let simmer until hot.
    Do not boil.
    Pack in hot, sterilized jars and seal.
    Makes about 5 pints.
