Key Lime Pie - cooking recipe

4 egg yolks
6 egg whites
1/2 c. lime juice
1/4 c. sugar
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
pinch of salt
1 (9-inch) baked pie shell
Preparation

Beat the egg yolks until lemon colored.
Blend in the condensed milk and slowly add lime juice and salt; mix well.
Add the cream of tartar to the egg whites and beat until foamy. Continue beating, adding sugar, one tablespoon at a time, until peaks form.
Fold 6 tablespoons of the meringue into the filling mixture and pour into a baked pie shell.
Top with the remaining meringue, sealing the edges carefully.
Bake at 330\u00b0 until golden brown.
