7 Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 head lettuce, torn in bits
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    1 pkg. frozen peas, thawed and drained (don't cook)
    1 can water chestnuts, sliced and drained
    1 can small shrimp
    2 c. mayonnaise and 2 Tbsp. sugar, whipped together
    grated cheese or bacon bits
Preparation
    Place ingredients in pan, 8 x 8 x 2-inch, in order listed. Sprinkle with cheese (should be sharp or Parmesan) or bacon bits. Refrigerate 24 hours.
    Do not mix.
    Serve in squares.
