Black Cherry Jello Dish - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cans sweet dark cherries, drained and juice reserved
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. almond extract
    3 (3 oz.) boxes black cherry jello
    4 c. water
    1 (20 oz.) can pineapple tidbits, drained
    1/2 lb. cream cheese, diced
    1/2 c. broken pecan pieces
    sweetened whipped cream (optional)
Preparation
    Drain the two cans of cherries. Place cherries in a bowl. Put the juice and the sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Pull from heat and add the almond extract. Pour the cherry juice mixture over the cherries and cover with film. Refrigerate overnight in refrigerator.
