Keer Krispy Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    25 to 30 medium cucumbers
    8 large white onions
    1/2 c. salt
    5 c. cider vinegar
    5 c. sugar (2 1/2 lb.)
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1/2 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers and slice as thin as possible. Slice onions as thin as possible. Combine with cucumbers and salt. Let stand 3 hours and drain. Combine vinegar, sugar and spices in a large kettle and bring to a boil. Add drained cucumbers and onions. Heat thoroughly, but do not boil.
    Pack hot into jars to within 1/2-inch of top.
    Process in boiling water bath 10 minutes. Yields 14 pints.
