Aunt Hazel'S Johnny Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg
    1/2 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. margarine, melted
    pinch of salt
    1 c. flour
    3/4 c. yellow corn meal
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Stir egg and sugar.
    In a separate bowl (and while holding over egg mixture bowl as it may bubble over), add soda to buttermilk.
    Add buttermilk to egg mixture.
    Add margarine and salt.
    Stir in corn meal and flour.
    Grease loaf pan, 5 x 8-inch shallow pan or muffin tins.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 25 minutes for loaf pan, 15 minutes for muffin tins or until inserted pick comes clean.
    Serve hot, cold or toasted.
    Can be frozen.
