Mom'S Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/3 c. milk
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    2 c. water
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    2 c. fruit filling (apples, peaches, use 1 tsp. cinnamon with these; blackberries and most other fruits work really well)
Preparation
    Boil sugar and water, then set aside.
    Melt butter in a 13 x 9-inch pan in oven, then set aside.
    Mix flour, shortening and milk into dough.
    Roll out about 1/4-inch thick rectangle.
    Fill with fruit and roll up like a jelly roll.
    Slice in 1/2-inch sections.
    Place in baking pan and pour sugar water over it.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 45 minutes or until golden.
