Eggless Raisin Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. raisins
    2 c. water
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. water (cold)
    1/2 c. sherry
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. ginger
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    2 tsp. baking soda
    4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. cloves (optional)
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg (optional)
Preparation
    Cook raisins in the 2 cups of water for 15 minutes.
    Add while hot the water and sherry; do not stir.
    Add salt, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda and flour.
    Stir this mixture well.
    Bake in large pan (lightly greased) at 375\u00b0 for 1 hour.
