Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. cocoa
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Cook together as a custard 1 cup sugar, cocoa, 1/2 cup milk and vanilla.
    Dissolve baking soda in a little hot water and add to mixture along with remaining 1 cup sugar, shortening, eggs, 1 cup milk and flour.
    Bake in 3 (9-inch) cake pans at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    Put on your favorite icing.
