Ingredients

2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c. butter or margarine
1 egg
1 c. sour cream
1/2 tsp. soda
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar.
Add egg and beat.
Mix dry ingredients.
Add alternately with sour cream; add vanilla.
Roll in a ball.
Cover with waxed paper.
Chill at least 1 hour.
(May put in freezer for a very short time.)
Roll about 1/2-inch thick on a lightly floured board.
Bake about 12 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven.
