Queen Elizabeth Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 beaten egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. black walnuts
1 c. boiling water
1 c. chopped dates
1 tsp. soda

Preparation

Pour boiling water over dates and soda.
Let stand while other ingredients are mixed.
Add to date mixture and bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes in a 9 x 12-inch pan.
