Black Walnut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour, sifted
    2 3/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 eggs, separated
    3/4 c. milk
    1 c. black walnuts, ground
Preparation
    Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
    Cream the shortening with sugar and vanilla until fluffy.
    Add beaten egg yolks and beat thoroughly.
    Add sifted dry ingredients and milk alternately in small amounts, beating well after each addition. Add nuts and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Pour in greased tube pan.
    Bake in moderate oven (350\u00b0) for 30 minutes.
