Grandma'S Chicken Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. water
    2 carrots (whole)
    1 stalk celery (whole)
    1 onion, sliced
    3 to 4 lb. chicken, cut up
    4 c. chicken broth
    1 c. water
    3 to 4 peppercorns
    salt to taste
    parsnips (whole, if available)
Preparation
    Cook the chicken in water and broth, along with all other ingredients.
    Simmer approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours, adding water as necessary.
    Let cool and strain.
    (At this point, you may freeze about 2 cups of mixture for future use.)
    Bone the chicken and refrigerate with remaining broth.
