Hearty Manicotti - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb sausage links, sliced
    1 lb ground beef
    1 med onion, chopped
    1 (16 oz) can tomato puree
    1/2 cup water
    1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
    1 3/4 tsp basil
    1 1/2 tsp salt
    1 tsp sugar
    1/2 tsp pepper
    1 (8 oz) pkg manicotti shells
    2 (15 or 16 oz) containers cottage or ricotta cheese
    1 (8 oz) pkg cheddar cheese, shredded
    2 Tbsp chopped parsley
    4 oz grated parmesan cheese
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0. Cook sausage 5 minutes in 1/4 cup water until brown.
    Set aside.
    Brown ground beef with onion.
    Stir in tomato paste and puree, salt, basil, sugar, pepper and water.
    Simmer 45 minutes.
    Add sausage.
    Cook another 15 minutes.
    Boil shells according to pkg directions.
    Drain.
    Mix cheeses and parsley. Pour half of meat mixture into casserole pan.
    Stuff shells with cheese mixture.
    Place on top of meat mixture.
    Cover with remaining meat mixture.
    Bake 30 minutes or until hot.
