Fruited Pot Roast - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (4 lb.) boneless chuck roast
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    2 c. apple juice
    2 c. water
    4 (3-inch) cinnamon sticks
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. dried apricots
    1 c. pitted prunes
    1 large cooking apple, peeled and sliced
Preparation
    Brown roast on all sides in hot oil in Dutch oven; pour off drippings. Sprinkle meat with salt and pepper. Add apple juice, water and cinnamon sticks. Bring to a boil.
    Cover, reduce heat and simmer 1 hour.
