Cutout Sugar Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 egg
    2 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream butter, sugar, vanilla and egg; beat until light.
    Add sifted dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
    Chill dough for several hours or overnight wrapped tightly in foil or wax paper.
    Roll out to 1/8 inch thickness.
    Cut into shapes with floured cookie cutter. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in 325\u00b0 oven for about 8 minutes. Cool on wire rack and decorate.
