Mandarin Almond Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 Tbsp. sugar, divided
    1/2 c. slivered almonds
    1/4 c. vegetable oil
    2 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. minced parsley
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1 tsp. hot pepper sauce
    1 bunch red leaf lettuce, torn
    1 can mandarin oranges, drained
    1 small red onion, sliced
Preparation
    In a small skillet, melt 3 tablespoons of sugar over low heat. Add almonds; stir until coated.
    Cool, break into small pieces and set aside.
