Chow-Chow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 medium onions, chopped (4 c.)
    10 green tomatoes, chopped (4 c.)
    1 medium head cabbage, chopped (4 c.)
    12 green peppers and 6 red sweet peppers, chopped (4 c.)
    4 hot peppers, chopped
    1/2 c. salt
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/4 c. water
    6 c. sugar
    1 tsp. celery seed
    4 c. cider vinegar
Preparation
    Chop all vegetables.
    Sprinkle salt over vegetables and let stand overnight.
    Rinse and drain.
    Combine remaining ingredients; add chopped vegetables.
    Boil for 5 minutes.
    Put into sterilized jars and seal.
