Orange-Date-Nut Cake - cooking recipe

3 1/2 c. flour
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. soda
1 c. nuts, chopped
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. dates, chopped
2 tsp. grated orange rind
Preparation

Dredge chopped nuts and dates in 1/2 cup of the flour.
Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time.
Beat until fluffy.
Sift flour, salt and soda together.
Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.
Add nuts, dates and orange rind.
Bake in a greased and floured tube pan for 1 hour and 15 minutes at 350\u00b0.
