Black Cherry Sparkle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (2 lb.) can pitted black cherries
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. almond extract
    8 slices plain pound cake
Preparation
    Drain cherries and set aside juice.
    In a saucepan, melt butter and add juice from the cherries; mix well.
    Add cornstarch and sugar.
    Stir until smooth.
    Heat, stirring constantly, until clear and thickened; remove from heat.
    Add cherries and almond extract. Put cake on individual plates.
    Pour sparkling cherry sauce over slices.
