Chicago Public School Lunch Room Butter Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. (1 lb.) butter, room temperature
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 1/2 c. flour
    2 tsp. vanilla
    sugar
Preparation
    Cream butter with electric mixer until light and creamy. Gradually add 1 1/2 cups sugar until the dough isn't grainy.
    Add flour 1/2 cup at a time.
    Add vanilla.
    Drop dough by heaping tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheet.
    Pour sugar on plate and press 2 fingers into sugar and then onto cookie to flatten.
    Bake in a preheated 325\u00b0 oven for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
