Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. currants
4 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. milk
4 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients.
Cut in shortening and add currants. Combine milk and eggs.
Add to dry mixture.
Mix well and turn out onto floured board.
Roll to 1/4-inch thick.
Cut with a biscuit cutter.
Bake on a moderately hot griddle.
Turn when brown on one side and then brown the other.
