Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. sugar
    1 c. white Karo syrup
    1 c. water
    whites of 3 eggs
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cook sugar, syrup and water to soft ball stage; remove from heat.
    Take out 1 cup sugar mixture and stir into stiffly beaten egg whites; set aside.
    Return remaining syrup mixture to heat and cook to hard ball stage; pour slowly into egg mixture, beating continuously.
    Add vanilla and nuts; beat until it starts to harden.
    Pour into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan to cool.
    Cut into squares while still warm.
