Old Fashioned Strawberry Shortcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. milk
3/4 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 large egg, beaten
3 pt. fresh strawberries
whipped cream

Preparation

Sift first 4 ingredients together.
Cut in butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Pour beaten egg into the flour mixture and knead about 20 seconds. Brush with melted butter, pat out the remaining half of the dough over top.
Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until done.
Turn out on cooking rack.
