Cornmeal Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. shortening (1/2 butter; 1/2 margarine)
    3 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    6 c. flour
    2 c. freshly ground yellow or white cornmeal
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    4 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. raisins (optional)
Preparation
    Mix shortening, sugar and egg; beat well.
    Add the other ingredients; mix well.
    Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350\u00b0 until lightly brown.
    (They have a better flavor when baked no longer than the light brown stage.)
