Brownies - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
2 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
3/4 c. sifted enriched flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. broken California walnuts
Preparation

Melt shortening and chocolate together over hot water.
Cool. Sift flour with baking powder and salt.
Beat eggs until light; add sugar and then chocolate mixture.
Blend.
Add flour, vanilla and nuts.
Mix well.
Pour batter into a greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.
Bake in a moderate 350\u00b0 oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
Cool and cut into squares.
