Mom'S Black Walnut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    2 3/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. milk
    2/3 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 eggs, separated
    1 c. black walnuts
Preparation
    Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
    Cream together shortening, sugar, vanilla and egg yolks.
    Add milk alternately with dry ingredients.
    Add black walnuts which have been floured with a little of the flour.
    Beat egg whites stiff and fold into mixture.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for one hour or a little longer.
    Ice with butter icing and decorate with walnuts.
