Snickerdoodle Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 3/4 c. plain flour
    2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 tsp. sugar
    4 tsp. ground cinnamon
Preparation
    Cream shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
    Combine flour, cream of tartar, salt and soda.
    Stir into creamed mixture.
    Add vanilla.
    Shape into balls the size of walnuts.
    Combine remaining sugar with cinnamon, mixing well. Roll each ball in cinnamon mixture.
    Place on a greased cookie sheet.
    Flatten slightly.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 8 minutes or until the first cookie begins to fall.
    Yields 5 dozen.
