Picante Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 c. tomatoes, quartered and cored
    3 large onions, quartered
    2 garlic cloves, chopped
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. vinegar
    1 c. water (optional)
    1 c. hot pepper
    salt to taste
Preparation
    Cook slowly for 2 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
    Pour into clean, hot jars and seal.
