Almond Brittle Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter or margarine
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1 egg, separated
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 c. sliced almonds
Preparation
    Cream butter or margarine until light and fluffy.
    Beat in the vanilla.
    Add the sugar slowly and continue creaming until well blended.
    Beat in the egg yolk.
    Stir in the flour and combine thoroughly.
    (Do not beat in or the cookies will be tougher.)
    Pat mixture into a lightly greased 15 x 10-inch baking pan.
