Ohio State Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. dark brown sugar
    3/4 c. butter
    3 eggs
    3/4 c. sour milk
    1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
    3/4 c. cocoa
    3/4 c. boiling water
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    3 c. sifted cake flour
Preparation
    Combine cocoa, boiling water and soda; let cool while creaming shortening.
    Add sugar gradually, creaming thoroughly.
    Add cocoa mixture after each egg.
    Add unbeaten eggs.
    Add milk and flour alternately, beginning with flour and ending with flour.
    This makes a large cake.
    Can be made in three layers.
    Bake 40 minutes at 350\u00b0.
