Potato Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. hot, unseasoned mashed potatoes
    2 c. sugar
    2/3 c. shortening
    4 eggs (unbeaten)
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1/2 c. cocoa
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. each: cinnamon and nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. milk
    1 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Line bottoms of 2 (9-inch) layer pans or a 13 x 9 x 2-inch oblong pan with waxed paper cut to fit.
    Prepare mashed potatoes.
    (Easy way is to follow directions for 2 servings on package mashed potatoes.) Measure and set aside.
    Gradually beat sugar into shortening until fluffy.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
    Add vanilla and potatoes.
    Add sifted dry ingredients and milk alternately, about 1/4 of each at a time, beating smooth.
    Stir in walnuts.
