Grandmother'S Tea Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. (scant) butter or Crisco
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. soda, mixed in 5 Tbsp. buttermilk
    3 c. or more flour
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream sugar and butter; add eggs.
    Add milk and soda mixture alternately with sifted flour and nutmeg.
    Add vanilla.
    Roll out not too thin; cut with cookie cutter.
    Bake in 350\u00b0 oven until just done, but not too brown.
    May be iced or sprinkled with sugar, if desired.
    Add 1/2 teaspoon salt if Crisco is used instead of butter.
