24-Hour Seven Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 to 1 head lettuce, torn in bite-size pieces (red leaf lettuce adds more color)
    1 large onion or chopped green onion
    1 c. celery, chopped fine
    1 can sliced water chestnuts
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen green peas, thawed only enough to break apart
    1 to 3 c. grated Mozzarella cheese
    1 c. or more grated carrots
Preparation
    Layer ingredients in large salad bowl in the order listed. (A clear bowl allows you to see the layers.)
    Be sure everything is very dry before starting your layers.
    Cover the top completely with dressing.
