Old-Fashioned Hominy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 qt. white corn
    1/2 c. lye
    6 qt. water
Preparation
    Mix all the ingredients in a stone jar or enamel pan (nothing else!).
    Soak for 15 hours until the husks come off easily. Drain.
    Wash in cold water several times, removing the husks. Place in a kettle and cover with water.
    Bring to a boil, then simmer until tender, changing the water 3 times in the process. Store in the freezer.
