White Texas Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    2 egg whites, unbeaten
    1 3/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 3/4 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar; add unbeaten egg whites.
    Sift flour, baking soda and salt together, then add to shortening and sugar, alternating with buttermilk.
    Add vanilla.
    Bake 20 minutes at 350\u00b0 in a floured jelly roll pan (17 x 11-inch).
