Ingredients

5 c. flour
2 c. suet (ground)
2 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. nutmeg
1 Tbsp. cloves
1 Tbsp. allspice
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
2 lb. raisins
1 tsp. soda in water
Preparation

After all dry ingredients have been mixed together, add the soda with just enough water to make a mixture.
Lay out a 12 x 14-inch cloth and lightly flour before putting the mixture in it. Use 1/2 mixture in two 12 x 14-inch cloths.
Tie up into a ball. Boil in open pan for 3 hours.
Add water as needed.
Be sure to put a saucer or plate in bottom of pan.
