Ingredients

1/2 c. margarine
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
8 oz. diced dates
confectioners sugar
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation

Melt margarine in saucepan.
Add brown sugar and heat slowly, stirring constantly until blended.
Cool slightly.
Add egg and vanilla; mix.
Sift flour with baking powder.
Stir into mixture in pan, blending thoroughly.
Stir in dates and nuts.
Spread in greased 8 x 8-inch pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
Cool.
Cut into small bars.
Roll in confectioners sugar.
