Butter Brickle Cake - cooking recipe

2 c. sifted flour
1 1/4 c. sugar
3 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
7/8 c. (3/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp.) milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 large egg whites
Preparation

Sift together first 4 ingredients in bowl. Add shortening, milk and vanilla to dry ingredients. Beat with electric mixer on slow to medium speed for 2 minutes. Scrape sides and bottom of bowl frequently. Add egg whites. Beat 2 more minutes, scraping bowl. Pour into prepared pans. Bake 25 to 30 minutes in a 375\u00b0 oven.
