Citrus-Beer Punch - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 lemons
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. water
    1 c. grapefruit juice, chilled
    2 (12 oz.) cans light beer, chilled
    cracked ice
    lemon slices (optional)
Preparation
    Remove peel from the 6 lemons and set aside.
    Juice lemons. You should have about 2 cups juice.
    In a large saucepan, stir together sugar and water.
    Bring to boiling.
    Add reserved lemon peel.
    Remove from heat.
    Cover and let stand 5 minutes.
    Remove and discard peel.
    Add lemon juice and grapefruit juice to sugar mixture.
    Transfer to a 2 1/2 to 3-quart pitcher; cover and chill completely.
