Holiday Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. white sugar
    2 c. Crisco shortening
    6 eggs
    2 tsp. vanilla
    6 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 full c. maraschino cherries
    1 tsp. maraschino cherry juice
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 c. chopped nuts
    powdered sugar
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
    Add flour, salt and baking soda; mix well.
    Add cherries, juice, dates and nuts; mix well.
    Shape into balls about the size of a quarter and roll in powdered sugar. Place on a greased cookie sheet (sprayed with Pam).
    Place in preheated 375\u00b0 oven.
    Bake for 10 minutes, or until golden.
    Makes 10 to 12 dozen.
    They freeze well.
