Coconut Cream Pie - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. milk
4 eggs, separated
2 Tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flaked coconut
1 baked 9-inch pie shell
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Combine first 3 ingredients in a heavy saucepan; gradually stir in milk.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
Beat egg yolks; gradually stir about 1/4 of hot mixture into yolks.
Add to remaining hot mixture, stirring constantly.
Cook 30 seconds.
Remove from heat; stir in butter, vanilla and coconut.
Pour into pie shell.
