Fig Jam - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. figs, after peeling, cut up
    4 c. sugar
    1 pt. water
    1 lemon
Preparation
    Combine water and thinly sliced lemon; boil for 5 minutes. Add sugar and dissolve well.
    Add figs.
    Let come to a boil.
    Turn down and simmer for 45 minutes or more.
