Cranberry Apple Pie - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. fresh or frozen cranberries
3/4 c. apple cider or juice
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. ground mace
3 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 1/2 c. apples, peeled and sliced
1 basic pastry recipe
1 Tbsp. butter
Preparation

In
saucepan combine cranberries and apple cider.
Cook and stir
until
cranberries
pop
(5
to 8 minutes).
Combine sugar, cornstarch
and mace; stir into hot cranberries.
Cook quickly, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens.
Remove from heat. Stir
in
apples.
Set
aside to cool.
Meanwhile, prepare basic pastry dough and
line
a
9-inch pie plate with half
the dough. Turn
cranberry-apple
mixture
into
pastry lined pie plate.
Dot with butter.
Roll out remaining pastry for top of pie and finish in
the usual way.
To prevent over browning, cover edge of pastry
with
foil.
Bake in 375\u00b0 oven for 30 minutes.
Remove foil;
bake
for
25
minutes or until crust is golden brown. Cool
on
wire
rack.
